The President of France in an interview with the BBC noted that for his country and all other countries, supporting Ukraine is a responsibility. In his opinion, if Russia is allowed to win, then “a new imperial power will emerge” in Europe, which could threaten other former Soviet republics, including Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Macron also said the next month would be crucial for Ukraine as troops try to liberate territory during counter-offensive operations.
At the same time, the French President expressed the opinion that it is not yet time for Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table. He stressed that the decision on negotiations is made only by Ukraine. But Macron added that the time may soon come “to have fair and good negotiations, to return to the negotiating table and find a solution with Russia.” And the duty of his country and all countries is to support Ukraine in its defense.
