It is noted that information about this incident was received by the police today, November 7, in the morning.
A 34-year-old resident of the city of Rakhiv, driving an Audi, was performing an overtaking maneuver of a car that had stopped for a special check. While overtaking, the driver drove into the oncoming lane and hit a 21-year-old State Tax Service employee. The latter was just on the roadway, the police noted.
The serviceman was hospitalized with numerous injuries of varying severity. The Audi driver was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. It is noted that he was sober while driving.
Based on the fact of violation of road safety rules, which caused grievous bodily harm to the victim, investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code.
For this crime, the driver faces up to 8 years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive for up to 3 years. The investigation continues, police say.
