The South African government condemned Israel and announced that it had recalled all its diplomats from the country.
South Africa is recalling diplomats from Israel to assess its relations with the country amid mounting civilian casualties in the war with Hamas. Reuters reported this on November 6.
“We are deeply concerned that the killing of children and innocent civilians continues in the Palestinian territories. And our view is that the Israeli response is oppressive,” said South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, adding that the country has withdrawn its diplomats from Israel.
The Foreign Minister said recalling the diplomats was “routine practice,” adding that the diplomats would give a “detailed briefing” to the government, after which it would decide whether permanent relations with Israel could be maintained.
Let’s remember that on October 31, Bolivia accused Israel of crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip and broke diplomatic relations with it.
On November 1, the President of Chile recalled the ambassador to Israel because of “Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip.” Colombia also summoned its ambassador to Israel for consultations.
As you know, on October 7, the radical group Hamas, based in Gaza, attacked Israel. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched a military operation against Hamas.
The number of victims of the attack in Israel reached 1,400 people, in Gaza they say more than 10,000 died.
