Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have raised the death toll to over 10,000.
The Health Ministry of Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, said more than 10,000 had died in the fighting that began after the group’s militants attacked Israel on October 7. The Guardian reported.
According to the department, as of November 6, 10,022 people died in the enclave, including 4,104 children.
Earlier, the heads of the main UN humanitarian agencies, as well as international charities, called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Hamas attacks cannot justify “any oppression of the Palestinian people.”
It will be recalled that on October 7, the radical group Hamas, based in Gaza, attacked Israel. More than 1,400 people were victims of this attack. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched a military operation against Hamas.
On October 31, the Israel Defense Forces entered the third phase of the war against Hamas. The IDF has expanded its ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.
