In Transcarpathia, 11 people are in hospital with hepatitis A. In Dnipropetrovsk region, 32 cases of infection have been recorded.
Cases of hepatitis A were found in Transcarpathia and the Dnepropetrovsk region. Thus, the infection has been recorded in five regions of the country.
There are 11 people in hospitals in the Transcarpathian region with hepatitis A. Among them are five children. Anatoly Pshenichny, director of the health department of the Transcarpathian Regional Municipality, informed Suspilny about this.
He noted that since the beginning of 2023, 125 cases of this disease have been identified in Transcarpathia. The source of infection is only people.
“Today we cannot call it an outbreak, because there is no reason for it. An outbreak is when 3-5 cases are registered in an environment, in a family, team or class,” he added.
Meanwhile, 32 cases of infection have been recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region, reports Pavlograd.dp.ua.
“In recent years, the incidence rate has increased in 2014-2015, 2019-2020. This disease is characterized by such a cyclical nature. The source of the disease is a sick person. The clinical manifestations are weakness, abdominal pain, jaundice. Infection can be due to contaminated food products, water, household routes through contaminated hands, objects,” said Denis Kiselev, head of the department of epidemiological surveillance and prevention of infectious diseases of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that a case of viral hepatitis A was confirmed in the laboratory in the Ternopil region.
Before this, the disease was recorded first in the Vinnytsia region, and then in the Carpathian region.
