Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, sappers from the State Emergency Service have already neutralized about 450 thousand explosive objects and 3 thousand air bombs. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Unfortunately, mines and other explosive objects also claim the lives of sappers. During the full-scale invasion, 21 sappers of the State Emergency Service were killed, another 77 were injured, emphasized the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko.
The minister added that thanks to international assistance, 17 mechanized mine clearance vehicles are operating in the State Emergency Service.
This technique greatly speeds up the demining process and has already cleared 456 hectares, but the main thing is to protect the pyrotechnicians and save their lives,” Klimenko noted.
Yes, only last month we managed to avoid possible tragedies – the equipment was damaged, but no people were affected.
In particular, in the Kharkov region, during work on demining power lines in the Izyum region, two mechanized mine clearance vehicles exploded on mines, the Ministry of Internal Affairs notes. — Equipment can be repaired or replaced, while each person’s life is unique.
At the same time, the department notes that the scale of Russian aggression and, as a consequence, mining requires more special equipment.
Dialogue with foreign partners on mine action needs is ongoing. Together we can do more! – noted in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
