On Saturday, November 4, the European official will meet with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. Ursula von der Leyen is also expected to speak to deputies of the Verkhovna Rada. People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on Telegram.
According to the people’s deputy, the visit takes place on the eve of the European Commission’s recommendation to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
As you know, last week the media wrote about the proposed visit of the President of the European Commission to Ukraine. Journalists suggested that this may indicate a positive assessment of Kyiv’s progress in the “candidate” reforms.
Let us recall that on October 24, the European Commission provided Ukraine with another 1.5 billion euros of macro-financial assistance, which will be used to cover “urgent financing needs through stable, expected and significant financial support.”
