The Russians were massive exporters of gold

Russian customs recorded a significant increase in the volume of exports of gold bars by individuals.

Recently, citizens of Russia began to actively export gold bars from the country. This was reported by Russian RBC in connection with representatives of the Federal Customs Service.

They noted that gold is a strategically important resource, so the state actively monitors the movement of this precious metal, especially in the hands of private individuals.

“The most striking example is the identification of the fact that an individual has exported bars with a total weight of more than 200 kg. At the same time, the citizen who exports gold is not confirm the origin of the bars, the funds with which he bought these bars, as well as the purpose of their export,” said the press service.

It was noted that in early November, the Russian Ministry of Finance proposed to limit the export of gold to individuals. The initiative was announced in the context of a discussion in the State Duma of the Russian Federation of a bill on the establishment of criminal liability for illegal trafficking in precious metals. The bill has already passed its first reading.

The authorities propose to use a whole range of measures, including a ban on the export of scrap and waste, which can hide the export of gold concentrate.

Let’s recall that in September it was reported that Russians started buying gold due to the fall of the ruble exchange rate.

In the past, a Russian tried to export native gold bars to another country. Ten pieces of precious metal with a total weight of more than five kg were found in a suitcase at Blagoveshchensk airport.

The Armenian wants to get a gold chain weighing about 2 kg from the Russian Federation.
