He noted that in the coming weeks, the European Union may take a historic step that will prove that the words about the ownership of the people of Ukraine in the European family are not just words and not empty words. .
“Why are there still politicians who are skeptical or hesitant about whether Ukraine should be allowed to join the European Union? Why? Why have Ukrainians been told for so long that they should still stay in this gray zone in between of the EU and Russia. Why? If Russia literally violates all the basic documents of international law, then why are there still those who are reluctant to block any relationship with such a state? ”Zelensky asked.
He stressed that Ukraine needs effective, legally binding security guarantees and an updated security architecture for the European continent.
Zelensky also reminded that all war criminals must be held accountable. “
“Justice must have its own word, and the word of justice must be re -strengthened by action for every death in Ukraine of Russian soldiers, for every torture and rape,” he said.

“Russia also violated the last law of 1975 (Helsinki Act – IF -U), the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, the Charter of the Council of Europe,” Zelensky said.
“Democracy must be effective in every sense. Words must work. It must work,” the president said, adding that when that happens, there is no doubt who will win.
