The first demonstration batch should be produced in 2025. Serial production will also begin in 2025, with deliveries in 2027.
The German company TDW has received an order to continue the production of DM22 anti-tank mines for the Bundeswehr, whose stocks have dried up due to the transfer to Ukraine. We are talking about a contract for 2600 mines, worth 68 million euros. This was reported by Defense Ukraine.
A new M22 costs about 26.1 thousand euros. In particular, it is assumed that there will be an option for another 10 thousand mines.
According to the contract, the first demonstration batch should be produced in 2025. Serial production will also begin in 2025, with deliveries in 2027.
According to the publication, the creation of a demonstration batch is due to the fact that a new version of the DM22 will be produced, which the head of the company, Andreas Seitz, told Janes. The new DM22, in addition to the standard starting device, can be equipped with additional sensors, including infrared, radar, seismic and acoustic.
The anti-tank mine has a rather unusual design. In fact, it is an anti-tank grenade launcher. Its activation in the basic version occurs after damage to the fiber optic cable, which stops at a length of 40 meters in the direction of the fire. A rocket-propelled grenade can penetrate several tens of centimeters of armor.
We remind you that Germany transferred the IRIS-T anti-aircraft system to Ukraine.
As reported, Germany is preparing a large package of military benefits for Ukraine for the winter season. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz estimated it at 1.4 billion euros. The package includes air defense systems, including the Patriot.
