The Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health reported an explosion in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. The Ministry of Health, as well as the director of the nearby Indonesian hospital, claim that at least 50 people have died, BBC News reports.
The ministry says the explosion was caused by an Israeli airstrike. According to him, about 150 people were injured, dozens remain under the rubble.
AFP writes that one of the videos shows that at least 47 bodies were recovered from the rubble of destroyed buildings.
Subsequently, Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari confirmed that Israeli aircraft struck the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, BBC News reports.
According to him, as a result of the strike, the commander of the Hamas Jabaliya battalion, Ibrahim Biari, was killed and the underground infrastructure of the terrorist group collapsed. The IDF claims that Biari was one of those responsible for the militants’ invasion of Israel on October 7.
Another IDF spokesman, Richard Hecht, said the Hamas battalion commander was “hiding behind civilians,” CNN reported. The strike killed dozens of Hamas militants, Conricus said. The press attache claims that the strike was carried out between buildings, directly into underground tunnels, but when they and the buildings around them collapsed, civilians were killed.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Wednesday morning that nine of its soldiers had already been killed in Gaza. The fighting continues.
The Palestinian telecommunications company Paltel reported that communications and the Internet were again completely cut off in the Gaza Strip.

The US State Department announced that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will fly to Israel on Friday for his third visit since the Hamas attack on October 7.
