In Chicago, 15 people were shot, two of them critically, during a Halloween party.
The suspect tried to flee the scene, but was detained, NBC News reports.
Video posted online shows people in Halloween costumes drinking and talking in the street when gunshots begin. Some people knock over metal tables and hide behind them. Video from the scene shows police treating several injured people lying on the ground.
The shooting also occurred in the parking lot of Worcester State University in Massachusetts. One person was killed, another was wounded.
Earlier it was reported that a Halloween party in Florida ended with shooting. As a result, two people were killed and 18 were injured.
Police said it all started with “disturbances or problems between two groups.” One man involved in the incident surrendered to police.
Maine authorities announced Saturday that a man accused of killing 18 people at a bowling alley and restaurant earlier this week was found dead Friday evening.
The body of 40-year-old Robert Card was found near a river about 10 miles from the town of Lewiston, where the shooting occurred, with a gunshot wound that was likely self-inflicted, Maine’s public safety commissioner said at a news conference Friday evening.
During the two-day search for the likely killer, many residents of the quiet, picturesque area in the northern United States lived in tension and were afraid to leave their homes, CNN reported from Maine.
