Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Kari announced on October 28 that his office has decided to sever all ties with satellite Internet provider Starlink due to statements by its owner, businessman Elon Musk, regarding communications in the Gaza Strip. Musk yesterday promised satellite communications to international organizations operating in the Gaza Strip.

Starlink will liaise with internationally recognized relief organizations in the Gaza Strip,” Elon Musk wrote on Platform X (Twitter).
Musk’s statement came in response to US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s statement that the communications shutdown in Gaza was “unacceptable.” Humanitarian groups said they were unable to contact their teams in the Gaza Strip after telephone and internet services were disrupted during intense Israeli bombing as part of a ground operation.
At the same time, Starlink helps the military operate in areas where other communications fail. The Times of Israel cited the Ukrainian Armed Forces as an example of the use of summative technologies. The publication also recalled that last year Musk did not allow Ukraine to destroy the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea by denying access to the Starlink Internet.
