The Ambassador of Finland to the Russian Federation was given a diplomatic note, stating that, in accordance with Article 14 of this agreement, it will expire within 90 days, that is, from January 24, 2024.
Finland’s Ambassador to Russia, Antti Helanter, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry and told that the agreement on cross-border cooperation was about to be terminated. The Russian TASS agency writes about it in connection with the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The main diplomatic mission was told that among the measures in response to the confrontational actions of Finland towards Russia, in particular the severance of trade, economic and interregional relations, direct contacts between citizens, as well discrimination against Russians on the basis of the country of origin in matters of issuing entry visas, the Russian side adopted the “decision to terminate the Agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the Finnish Republic on the promotion of cooperation on the border between the Russian Federation and the Finnish Republic, signed in Helsinki on April 13, 2012,” the statement said.
The ambassador was given a diplomatic note, stating that, in accordance with Article 14 of this agreement, it will cease to be in effect after 90 days, that is, from January 24, 2024.
