The state propaganda news agency RIA Novosti reported this on October 26, citing its own source.
The delegation, according to the agency, is headed by Hamas Politburo member Abu Marzouk. It is not specified who Hamas representatives will meet with in Moscow.
The visit was not officially announced in advance. After the RIA Novosti information appeared, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Hamas representatives had arrived in Moscow.
Russia generally maintains relations with Hamas – unlike the US, EU and Israel, the group is not considered terrorist in Russia.
Hamas delegations regularly visit Moscow. The current visit was the first since the start of a new war in the Gaza Strip, caused by an attack by militants on Israel and the taking of hostages. As a result of the attack, according to Israel, 23 Russian citizens were also killed.
