The US military has developed a plan to train Ukrainian soldiers in the use of advanced multiple launch rocket artillery, which increases the possibility of transferring new weapons to Kyiv. This was reported on June 8 by The Washington Post.
According to US Army General Mark Milli, at this stage it planned to train a platoon of Ukrainian soldiers.
“We have to start with a rational and thoughtful program that trains them to the point of being effective,” he said.
Millie stressed that simply throwing a weapon system into battle is useless.
“Training is necessary to achieve maximum efficiency in the use of the weapon as an accuracy system,” he added.
The publication recalls that last month, the administration of US President Joe Biden approved the transfer to Ukraine of four M142 artillery systems, commonly known as HIMARS. The UK has also said it will ship three M270 MLRSs that perform a similar function.
The general noted that the HIMARS and M270 needed serious training. The United States has developed an accelerated program for Ukrainian soldiers who already have experience with other types of artillery.
The British will also train through the platoon, which will allow Ukrainian forces to build strength against Russia’s current superior artillery.
