Trevor Noah Grills CNN For Excessive Use of Breaking News Alerts: ‘Boy Who Cried Wolf’

Trevor Noah laughed at CNN on Tuesday for abusing the news banner after his new boss ordered staff to reduce training.

“For years, CNN was known to exaggerate everything, like a zombie apocalypse,” the Daily Show host said. “It’s like, ‘A lot of news: six months before the by-election!’

“And not surprisingly, this technique worked, as viewers learned to understand it. Like a boy crying for a wolf. Or in this case, the wolf crying wolf,” Noah added when appearing on screen a photo of veteran CNN presenter Wolf Blitzer.

Chris Licht, CNN’s new president, recently told staff that as they move forward, the news banner is reserved for headline news only. According to the New York Times. CNN has updated its Standards Guide, stating that the story must qualify as “stop what you’re doing and watch the news” in order to be labeled “essential news”.
