In Nikolaev, law enforcement officials initiated criminal proceedings against a minibus driver who scolded a passenger for speaking Ukrainian. This was reported by the police of the Nikolaev region.
“During surveillance, police officers discovered a publication on the Internet stating that in one of the microdistricts of Nikolaev, the driver of a public transport route was using obscene language towards a passenger who asked to stop at state language,” the report said.
Investigators entered information in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations on violations of equal rights of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disabilities and other characteristics.
The punishment of the article provides up to 3 years of imprisonment with or without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years.
