Over the course of nine months, State Customs together with the Ministry of Defense checked more than 9 thousand facts of the movement of humanitarian aid goods to 200 military units. And in more than 3 thousand cases, the receipt of assistance to the military was not confirmed. The State Customs Service reported this on October 20.
It is noted that the facts of the disappearance of the “humanitarian aid” were discovered thanks to the implemented mechanism of joint control over the receipt of humanitarian supplies to military units. This mechanism made it possible to quickly exchange information about confirmation of receipt of such goods by military units and identify risky customs clearances.
Ukrainian customs officers have already sent 387 reports to law enforcement officers about facts indicating signs of a crime. In addition, 320 protocols on violation of customs rules were drawn up, where the objects of violation were humanitarian aid goods.
The State Customs Service reminded that the import of commercial goods under the guise of humanitarian aid is a violation of current legislation and entails liability.
Let us remind you that the Security Service of Ukraine stated that they exposed and blocked a large-scale corruption scheme organized by the leadership of the Sumy Regional Military Administration. The regional authorities stole funds intended for the restoration of infrastructure.
