October tragedy in the capital
The first high-profile case was the death of young people born in 2005 and 2006 on October 2 in the Dnieper district of the capital. They grew up in an ideal foster family, half-siblings, but, according to them, fell in love with each other. Teens broadcast suicide on TikTok – they jumped from the 24th floor of a building. Moreover, their named mother saw the broadcast of the suicide.
After this incident, on October 9, the bodies of two girls, 17 and 18 years old, were found in Kyiv. They died as a result of falling from the 26th floor of an unfinished building; police found suicide messages on their phones addressed to their parents.
On October 15, the body of a 12-year-old girl was discovered in the district capital of Obolon. According to law enforcement, the boy jumped from the 22nd floor.

Are the suicides related?
After these cases, users on social networks began to hypothesize that the suicides of teenagers in Kyiv are related. The victims may have been victims of so-called “death squads.”
Officially, the capital’s law enforcement officials said that the investigation is ongoing and the reasons for the death of several young people under mysterious circumstances are being clarified. And the connection between these tragedies can only be indirect.
“The deceased were not participants in “death squads” and corresponding games. We checked whether there is a connection between these cases. We can say there is none, but there is only hype that is rising on the Internet. Law enforcement officials added that the causes of suicide used to be determined by certain life events that exist in each family.
“For example, it was known in advance that the couple who committed suicide on October 2 – these young people were using drugs. This case and others are not related to any online communities,” said the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Three suicides in one night
In Krivoy Rog, three people committed suicide last night. In particular, the body of a hanged 20-year-old man was found in a playground in the Pokrovsky district of the city.
The second case occurred in the Ternovsky district. There, a 40-year-old man jumped from the window of a multi-story building and died before an ambulance arrived. The cause of this tragedy remains a mystery.
The third suicide occurred in the Zarechny microdistrict of Krivoy Rog, where a 21-year-old girl, after a quarrel with her husband, committed suicide by hanging herself on a horizontal bar above the door.

The National Social Service of Ukraine reported that the country was really shaken by a wave of suicides, including teenagers. Usually, as explained by the department, such actions among minors are motivated by the phenomenon of “romanticization of suicide” and a state of passion when the mental illness seems so deep that it cannot be prevented otherwise.
In such conditions, adults often begin to actively check their children’s social networks. However, this should be done with respect for their personal privacy by keeping their pages public so as not to undermine their trust and privacy, the service added.
