German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded harshly to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s claims that a war in the Middle East could lead to civilian casualties. The German politician called Putin’s words maximum cynicism.

I am more than outraged when I hear the Russian president everywhere warning that in armed conflicts there may be civilian casualties. “You couldn’t find anything more cynical than this,” Scholz pointed out in a speech to the Bundestag.

According to him, statements by the Russian President that a war in the Middle East could lead to casualties among civilians are cynical. Scholz promised to work to free hostages kidnapped by Islamist militants from the Hamas group during the attack on Israel.
