Today, October 15, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev raised the national flag in the main city of Nagorno-Karabakh – Khankendi (Armenians call the city Stepanakert) and made a speech there.

The press service of the President of Azerbaijan reported this, publishing corresponding photos. In them, Aliyev, in military clothing, kneels and kisses the national flag of Azerbaijan before raising it.
Aliyev’s press service reported that during the visit he also visited several other settlements in Karabakh.
In September of this year, Azerbaijan conducted a military operation to restore the constitutional order in the occupied part of the country – Nagorno-Karabakh. As a result, on September 28, the “authorities” of Nagorno-Karabakh announced the termination of the existence of this unrecognized republic from January 1, 2024. Almost the entire Armenian population – about 100 thousand ethnic Armenians – left the region.
On October 5, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a declaration recognizing Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan.
