Every day, border guards stop about 20-30 people trying to cross the border illegally.
About 100-150 people are denied permission to cross the state border every day, State Border Service spokesman Andrei Demchenko told a telethon.
He noted that every day the border guards stop about 20-30 people trying to cross the border illegally.
“Another 100 to 150 people are denied permission to cross the state border every day when they arrive at checkpoints, but have no legal basis to cross the state border,” Demchenko said.
If we compare it with last year, in 2022, more attempts to cross the border illegally were recorded. He emphasized that more such cases occur in spring and summer.
According to him, in the past few months, the number of attempts to illegally cross the border with fake documents through checkpoints has decreased. However, the number of people trying to cross the border outside the checkpoints has increased.
Demchenko added that during martial law, about 15,800 people were detained in the “green zone”, and another 6,900 were exposed at checkpoints.
Earlier, Interior Minister Igor Klimenko said Ukrainian authorities were looking for a common way to punish men liable for military service who left the country illegally during a full-scale war.
