The information that Ukrainians are being held captive by terrorists has not been confirmed. Moreover, in the coming days, at least 260 Ukrainian citizens are to be evacuated from Israel to Romania. The tickets were bought for them using embassy funds. Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk stated this on October 14 in a commentary to ZN.UA.
Today 208 leaves, tomorrow – 52. And we will arrange the next flight for October 18. These are all tickets purchased through the embassy,” the diplomat said.
Korniychuk also noted that the number of Ukrainians killed as a result of the Hamas attack on Israel has not changed. Moreover, among the dead citizens of Ukraine, only one person had an exclusively Ukrainian passport.
Let us recall that on October 13, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Yevgeny Korniychuk stated that Israeli intelligence services conveyed information to diplomats that Ukrainians could be held captive by Islamist Hamas militants. However, at that time this information was unverified.
