Nikolai Kobrinets, head of the pan-European cooperation department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was found dead in a hotel room in the Taksim district of Turkish Istanbul. This was reported by the Turkish television channel NTV.

It was noted that the Russian diplomat arrived in Istanbul for a meeting of ambassadors. Colleagues tried to call him after he failed to show up for a morning meeting. After that, the hotel staff found his dead body in the room.

According to preliminary data, Kobrinets died of a heart attack. His body was taken to the morgue to determine the exact cause of his death.
