The United States, together with the Qatari government, agreed to prevent Iran from gaining access to a previously unfrozen $6 billion account that was planned to be used for humanitarian aid.

This was reported by The Washington Post.
Washington and Doha made the corresponding decision several weeks after the US and Iranian governments announced an agreement to organize humanitarian assistance as part of a prisoner exchange aimed at easing hostilities in the region. American officials had to approve each agreement. The fund is financed by sales of Iranian oil.
US officials have said the Palestinian group Hamas received weapons and military training from Iran, although Tehran does not acknowledge a direct role in the recent Hamas attack on Israel.
US Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo told House Democrats that the money “isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.” Senators from both parties, including Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown, called on US President Joe Biden’s administration to abandon the agreement.
Let us recall that several years ago the United States imposed sanctions on Iran, which is why the $6 billion that the country earned from oil sales was frozen in a closed bank account in South Korea. In September of this year, Washington released funds to enable the exchange of five prisoners for five Iranians.
