The social network X (Twitter) deleted hundreds of accounts linked to Hamas after the militants attacked Israel. Company CEO Linda Yaccarino said about this stated in an official letter of response to the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton.
Yaccarino noted that the company has “shifted resources and refocused internal teams working around the clock to resolve the rapidly evolving situation.”
“X has no place for terrorist organizations or violent extremist groups, and we continue to remove such accounts in real time. X detects fake and manipulative content during this ever-evolving and changing crisis,” said of the letter.
The company’s CEO added that the platform “gathered a leadership team to assess the situation” shortly after news of the attack in Israel broke.
Yaccarino noted that since the Hamas attack on Israel, the company has worked to “remove or label thousands of pieces of content” that violate the social network’s rules on violent speech, media manipulation and graphic materials.
In addition, the company has responded to more than 80 “takedown requests” from EU authorities regarding false or violent content.
