Brussels has created a special fund to support Ukraine in the amount of 1.7 billion euros, which is filled by taxation of Russian assets frozen in the country.
According to de Croo, Belgium intends to support Kyiv in three areas, including military assistance and economic sanctions.
The third is the creation of a Ukraine Fund with a volume of 1.7 billion euros… The source of this fund will be billions of Russian assets frozen in Belgium. In Belgium we have taxation on the income of these frozen assets. Last year it was clear to us that taxation of income from these assets should 100% benefit the people of Ukraine. We did it last year and we will do it again through the €1.7 billion fund. This fund will be used to purchase military equipment, humanitarian support, the European Peace Fund, macro-financial assistance, etc., the prime minister noted.
Let us remind you that earlier the Belgian Minister of Defense announced that the country would send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2025.
