The number of victims of the earthquake that occurred in the northwestern part of Afghanistan exceeded 2,500 people. This was announced on October 8 by Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran on the social network H.
“According to officials from the Ministry of Disaster Management, the number of earthquake victims in Herat has exceeded 2,500,” he said.
Zadran added that emergency services were on the scene. Victims still need shelter and food.
Earlier, the Afghanistan Disaster Management Authority reported that more than 1,300 houses were partially or completely destroyed by the earthquake.
According to the Bakhtar news agency, about 12 villages in Herat province were “totally destroyed.”
