There are currently about 80 Russian spies in Switzerland, which is about a fifth of the total number in Europe.

This was reported by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung newspaper with reference to Swiss intelligence data.
According to their information, it was neutrality that made it possible for Russians to send their spies to them in such large numbers. Most of them are in cities such as Geneva and Bern, because they are home to many international organizations and companies.
The publication notes that the opinion of the Swiss authorities is radically different on the issue of spies. For example, in a comment to journalists, a representative of the Department of Foreign Affairs said that they do not impose sanctions against diplomats (often spies – “Rakurs”), because “channels of communication with Russia must be preserved.”
At the same time, member of the National Assembly Fabian Molina directly says that these agents pose a threat to the internal and external security of Switzerland.
A professional hockey player who spied for Russia was detained in Poland.
