The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, proposed “temporarily” canceling the Russian presidential elections. He made this statement at a rally in Grozny, which took place on the occasion of the birthday of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, reports Chechnya Segodnya.

Kadyrov motivates his initiative with the full-scale armed aggression currently being carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine (the so-called “SVO”).
I propose, now that the SVO is underway, to unanimously decide that we will have one candidate in the elections – Vladimir Putin Vladimirovich. Or temporarily cancel the elections, because we don’t have another person who could defend our country today,” Kadyrov said.
Kadyrov also said that “the EU and NATO, led by America,” are allegedly forcing Chechens to abandon their faith and traditions.
The next Russian presidential elections are scheduled to take place on March 17, 2024. Before this, the final decision on the date of the elections must be made by the Russian Federation Council no later than 90 days before they are held.
