The Serbian Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the Supreme Court of First Instance, which refused to extradite to Ukraine the former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, Andrei Naumov, who was convicted of money laundering. This was reported by the Balkan service of Radio Liberty.
It is reported that this decision legally consolidates the previous verdicts of the court in Serbia regarding the refusal to extradite Naumov at the request of Ukraine.
A request for Naumov’s extradition was sent to Serbia in September 2022 by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, and in July 2023, Ukraine’s request for Naumov’s extradition was rejected for the first time, then an appeal was filed.
The decision of the first instance was confirmed on September 29, and the decision of the Serbian judicial authorities not to extradite Naumov to Ukraine became legally binding.
Let’s recall that in July 2023, the High Court of Nis rejected Ukraine’s request to extradite Naumov.
On September 29, the High Court of the Serbian city of Niš sentenced the former head of the Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU, Andrei Naumov, to one year in prison on charges of money laundering.
