The State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations reported the death of 51 people (35 were identified), including one child. This is Russia’s deadliest attack on the Kharkiv region since the start of the full-scale invasion.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, said on air at the telethon that a wake was taking place in the cafe-shop, which was attended by almost a third of the village.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the attack on the village of Kupyansky district.
Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international humanitarian law and must cease immediately. The Secretary-General expresses deep condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded,” Guterres was quoted as saying by the press service of the UN Secretary-General.
