The US authorities fully support the defense of freedom and understand the actions of Putin’s Russia. The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, said this at the summit of the European Political Community in Granada, Spain on Thursday, October 5.
“I have confidence in America. They are strong people, strong society, strong institutions, strong democratic energy. I was recently in Washington. I spoke with President Biden. I spoke with congressmen – both party, both chambers. They fully support the defense of freedom and understand that Russia and other enemies of our way of life want to take advantage of the consequences of political storms,” Zelensky said.
He recalled that America used to help Europe survive, so now it is important for Europeans not to hide their sails from the wind, trying to wait out the storm, but “together in these troubled times – to work together, to defend our values and our common space of freedom in the United States.”
According to Zelensky, “it is in such mutual assistance – both in calm times and in times of security challenges and disturbances – that the true meaning of the transatlantic partnership lies.”
