On October 2, the US government transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces about 1.1 million rounds of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, which were seized in December 2022 by the naval forces of the US Central Command from the transit vessel without state ownership “MARVAN”.

This was reported by the press service of the US Central Command.
It is noted that these munitions originally belonged to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the military branch of Iran’s executive branch) and were sent to the Houthis (a Shiite militant group) in Yemen in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
The US government received ownership of the ammunition on July 20, 2023 through a civil forfeiture lawsuit filed by the country’s Department of Justice against the IRGC.
Let us remind you that CNN recently reported, citing sources in the country’s authorities, that the US authorities plan to transfer thousands of confiscated Iranian weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
