This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, who met with the new Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov in Kyiv. He wrote about this on social networks Twitter (X).
Ukraine demands more capabilities and needs them faster… We are preparing long-term security commitments for Ukraine,” the message says.
He also said that he and Umerov discussed the situation at the front and the support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the European Union. The minister told the diplomat that the Ukrainian army now needs ammunition and weapons. The issue of training Ukrainian units abroad was raised.
According to Borrell, the EU will support the Ukrainian people in the future. Military assistance amounting to 25 billion euros has already been provided, and total support for Ukraine reaches 80 billion euros.
And this is the largest amount we have ever allocated for such support. We are proud of this. And I assure the minister that we are working for peace, but we must support Ukraine from a military point of view,” he wrote.
Let us recall that on October 1 in Kyiv, Josep Borrell met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. In anticipation, the European diplomat visited Odessa.
