The war unleashed by the Russian occupiers was the only cause of the impending food crisis in the world.
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Security Council Vasily Nebenzya left the hall during the speech of the President of the European Council Charles Michel. A live broadcast of the United Nations Security Council meeting on Monday, June 6, was conducted on Youtube.
In the speech, Charles Michel mentioned the Kremlin’s guilt in waging war, and also laid the responsibility on Moscow for the impending famine in many countries.
“Mr. Ambassador of the Russian Federation, let’s be honest, the Kremlin is using food stocks as missiles against developing countries. The dramatic consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine are resonating around the world. They are escalating food prices, pushing people into poverty and destabilizing the entire region. The Russian war – the only cause of the impending food crisis.Russia alone is responsible for it.Contrary to what the campaign says lies and disinformation of Kremlin, ”Michel said.
He added that during his visit to Ukraine he saw millions of tons of grain and wheat stuck in containers and on ships in the Black Sea.
“And it’s Russia’s tanks, bombs and mines that prevent Ukraine from planting and harvesting, the Kremlin is also stealing grain in the territories it occupies. All this, blaming others. It’s cowardice and propaganda, “Michel stressed.
He also recalled that the European Union has not imposed sanctions on Russia’s agricultural sector.
“Our sanctions against Russia’s transport sector do not apply outside the EU. They do not prevent ships with the Russian flag from delivering food or fertilizer to developing countries,” he said.
When Nebenzya stood up and left the hall, Michel suggested that it would be easier for the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to leave than to listen to the truth.
“Mr. Ambassador, you can leave the hall. Maybe it’s easier not to hear the truth,” he said.
Earlier, Anthony Blinken said Russia was blocking Ukrainian grain exports, thus blackmailing the world with the worsening food crisis.
The best guarantee for ensuring the export of grain by sea, according to Zelensky, is the supply of the necessary weapons-anti-ship missiles.
