The Kurdistan Workers’ Party announced a “suicide attack” planned for the opening day of the parliament.
Kurdish militants claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Ankara on Sunday, October 1. The ANF News website, close to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants, reported this, citing the PKK’s own statement.
The statement described the blast as a “suicide attack” planned for the opening day of parliament and carried out by “our group associated with the Immortals battalion.”
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. The party launched an insurgency in southeastern Turkey in 1984 – more than 40,000 people were killed during the conflict.
We remind you that on Sunday in the capital of Turkey there were explosions near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Parliament. The head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs said two terrorists drove up to the ministry building in a car. One of the men blew himself up, the other was neutralized.
