As a result of the Russian Federation’s military aggression on the territory of Ukraine, 1232 civilians were killed and 1935 were wounded. This is stated in the report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for the period from 4.00 February 24 to 00.00 March 30.
“In total, 1,232 people were killed (250 men, 176 women, 18 women and 36 men, as well as 58 children and 694 adults, whose gender is still unknown),” the UN said.
In the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, 404 civilians were killed and 988 were injured. Of these, 338 were killed and 743 were injured in the territory controlled by Ukraine, and 66 were killed and 245 were injured in the territory controlled by the “LDNR”.
In Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kiev, Nikolaev, Odessa Sumy, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk and Zhytomyr regions, 828 victims and 947 injured.
It was noted that most of the deaths in the civilian population were caused by the use of explosive weapons with large areas of destruction, including heavy artillery and multiple launching of rocket systems, rockets and air strikes.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights stressed that the actual number of civilian casualties was higher, as information from some areas where intense fighting was fought was delayed, and a lot of data awaiting confirmation.
This applies, for example, to Mariupol and Volnovakha (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Popasna (Luhansk region) and Irpen (Kyiv region), where there are reports of numerous civilian casualties.
Earlier it was reported that since the start of the entire Russian army invasion of Ukraine, 148 children have died.
