However, this budget, at the request of some congressmen, does not provide funds for assistance to Ukraine.
Subsequently, this decision of the House of Representatives was approved by the upper house of the US parliament, the Senate, and signed by US President Joe Biden.
At the same time, the leaders of both parties in the Senate published a joint statement indicating that after 45 days, for which government funding was approved, a decision will be made on allocating funds to Ukraine.
Biden’s statement on this issue was published on the White House website, in which he welcomed the decision to temporarily fund the government, noting that it diverted an “unnecessary crisis.” At the same time, he stressed that support for Ukraine should not stop.
We cannot, under any circumstances, allow American support for Ukraine to be disrupted. “I fully expect the Speaker to remain committed to the people of Ukraine and ensure they receive the support needed to help Ukraine at this critical moment,” Biden said.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made a similar statement, the text of which was published on the Pentagon website.
I call on Congress to honor America’s commitment to provide urgently needed assistance to the people of Ukraine as they fight to defend their country from the forces of tyranny. America must stick to its word and continue to lead, he stressed.
