According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, on October 4, Belarus intends to organize a visit of foreign diplomats accredited in Minsk to the places of “residence, education and rehabilitation” of Ukrainian children previously taken from the temporarily occupied cities of Lisichansk and Severodonetsk in the Lugansk region.

The purpose of this event is to implement the illegal movement of Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. According to international law, the forced deportation of children can be qualified as a war crime, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary.
Accordingly, the Ukrainian diplomatic department calls on foreign states whose diplomatic missions have received appropriate invitations in Minsk to refrain from participating in this trip, classifying it as propaganda. Belarusian officials only want to hide behind international representatives to avoid responsibility.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry promises that it will continue to work to bring to justice all those responsible for the removal of Ukrainian children from Ukraine, and will do this both at the level of the national investigation and as part of the investigation of the International Criminal Court.
The international community regards the illegal removal of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories as a war crime. Dictator Vladimir Putin and Russia’s children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova have already received arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
The Belarusian democratic forces are collecting materials for the International Criminal Court that prove the involvement of representatives of the Lukashenko regime, including himself, in the illegal removal of Ukrainian children.
In a resolution dated September 13, the European Parliament stated that the actions of Lukashenko and his regime can be qualified as crimes against humanity (deportation or forced transfer of population) under the Rome Statute and called on the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Lukashenko.
