More than 27 thousand Ukrainians underwent military training as part of the EU training mission. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, in a video address to the participants of the Defense Industries Forum on Saturday, September 30.
“Obviously, investing in the defense of Ukraine also means investing in our own security in Europe. We continue to finance the supply of modern military equipment in accordance with the priorities defined by Ukraine. We also carry out a lot of work on military training . We have now trained more than a thousand Ukrainian soldiers.” , he said.
Borrell recalled that the EU recently increased the training target for the mission to 40 thousand by the end of this year.
“In addition, our initiative in the production of ammunition is, of course, paying well. We have carried out immediate deliveries from the warehouse and are now focusing on joint procurement. This month, the European Defense Agency signed nine industrial framework contract for the general purchase of 155 mm ammunition,” – added the head of EU diplomacy.
According to him, “we must do more and faster to continue to support Ukraine and replace the supplies of our member states.”
Earlier it became known that within the framework of the EU procurement scheme, seven countries ordered the necessary artillery shells for Ukraine. We are talking about 155 mm ammunition.
