Mercenaries are again being deployed to the front line in Ukraine individually and in groups; their exact status is still unknown.
In recent weeks, up to a hundred fighters associated with the private military company (PMC) Wagner have begun redeploying to Ukraine, either individually or in small groups, to fight alongside various -Russian unit. About it on September 29 reported UK Ministry of Defence.
It is noted that the Wagner group withdrew from the conflict in Ukraine in early June 2023, before the unsuccessful uprising on June 24 and the subsequent death of PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin in a crash of the plane on August 23.
“The exact status of those redeployed is unknown, but it is likely that the individuals were transferred to units of the official forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense and other PMCs. Some reports indicate a concentration of veterans of Wagner around Bakhmut,” British intelligence believed.
The military added that the mercenaries’ experience will likely be needed especially in this sector, as many of them are familiar with the current Ukrainian front lines and tactics.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed that the Wagnerites were present on the territory of the Eastern Group of Forces.
