On September 28, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting with the French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu, who is visiting Ukraine. This was reported by the president’s website.
Zelensky noted the comprehensive assistance to Ukraine from France and highly appreciated the personal role of President Emmanuel Macron in supporting Ukraine’s international initiatives and making decisions to strengthen Ukraine’s defense forces.
During the meeting, the parties discussed further measures to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine with the support of France, in particular, the possibility of starting the joint production of certain types of weapons.
Zelensky also noted the effectiveness of military assistance provided by France, in particular, the SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile system, Caesar self-propelled artillery system and SCALP-EG long-range missiles. Particular attention was paid to the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense.
The President presented Sébastien Lecorne with the Order of Merit, 2nd degree, for his significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
