The text of the amendment to the Basic Law refers to North Korea as a “responsible nuclear state.”
North Korea has established in its constitution the policy of developing nuclear forces. Reuters reported this on September 28.
It was noted that the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, during a two-day session, unanimously approved an amendment to the basic law, according to which the republic produces high-level nuclear weapons “to ensure its right to exist and prevent war. .”
The country’s leader, Kim Jong-un, emphasized that the policy of building nuclear forces, stated in the constitution, “is not allowed to be violated by anyone.”
According to him, Pyongyang will increase the production of nuclear weapons to “prevent American provocations.”
The North Korean leader added that the United States, through its actions, “is unprecedented and greatly exacerbates the threat of nuclear war.” In this regard, Kim Jong-un called for strengthening solidarity with “anti-imperialist independent countries” that oppose the strategy of the United States and the West.
Earlier, the DPRK said its status as a nuclear state was “final” and could not be changed by Western countries.
