The import ban would be a sign that Romania does not want to help Ukraine, and this is not true, said the Prime Minister of Romania.
Romania did not introduce a unilateral ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, because it believed that Ukraine had to be helped until the end of the war. The Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolaku, said this in an interview with Digi24.ro.
According to the Prime Minister of Romania, Ukraine needs to be helped until it wins the war against Russia, and grain transfer assistance is part of this assistance. Therefore, Ciolaku emphasized, his country did not act like Poland.
After consultations with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis Ciolaku, he accepted the option of licensing the export and import of Ukrainian agricultural products.
“Through dialogue, we found this export licensing system from Ukraine so that farmers are protected, but we did not come up with a ban, because that would be a sign that we do not want to help the Ukraine, and this is not true, ” he said.
As previously reported, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia asked Ukraine to withdraw its complaint to the World Trade Organization over the ban on the import of agricultural products.
