The sanctions were imposed against five legal entities and two individuals from Iran, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The US government has imposed sanctions on an international network that facilitated Iran’s acquisition of critical components for the production of Shahed attack drones. This was reported by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury.
“OFAC today imposed sanctions on five entities and two individuals from Iran, the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates involved in the procurement of critical spare parts for the U.S.’s combat drone program Iran,” the statement said.
These entities and individuals reportedly facilitated supplies and financial transactions in support of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force. The purchased parts were used to make the Shahed series of drones that Iran supplies to Russia, and which Russia uses in its war of occupation in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the United States had imposed sanctions against those who helped Iran build drones.
