Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol Pyotr Andryushchenko announced this today, September 27, in his Telegram channel.
24 Russians will sentence heroes to life imprisonment only because they defended their (our) country,” notes Andryushchenko.
According to them, the captured Ukrainian military is accused by the Russians under Art. 278 (“Forcible seizure of power”) and Art. 205.5 (“Participation in a terrorist organization”) of the Criminal Code of Russia.
Again. Citizens of Ukraine are accused by the occupying country of seizing power in Ukraine. If there was any cynicism before this, then this is the final bottom,” Andryushchenko emphasized.
According to the mayor’s adviser, such actions by the Russians are “a direct and frank response of the Putin cowardly regime to the hearings that have begun at the Hague International Criminal Court, where today they interviewed children abducted from Mariupol, who were returned.”
I sincerely hope for publicity. Because Russia is not afraid of anything else. But publicity still works,” Andryushchenko added.
Let us recall that in May 2022, after several months of fighting in the surrounded Mariupol, more than 2.5 thousand defenders of the city were captured in Russian captivity, who until the last held their positions at the Azovstal plant and were ordered to stop defending. Some of the captured military personnel have already been released.
