Rustem Umerov said the possible death of the occupier was “good news for everyone” and indicated that Ukraine was proceeding with de-occupation.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, neither confirmed nor denied the death of the Russian vice-admiral, commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Viktor Sokolov. This was confirmed by the comment he gave to the American television channel CNN on Tuesday, September 26.

However, he noted that if the Russian conqueror dies, then “it’s good news for everyone.”

“He is in our temporarily occupied territory… he should not be there. Therefore, if he is dead, then it is good news for everyone – we continued the deoccupation of our territory,” the Ukrainian official explained.

However, the head of the department in a comment to journalists did not confirm or deny the fact of Sokolov’s death during the Ukrainian attack on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol.

Let’s recall that on September 22, a missile attack was carried out on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. The previous day, the MTR of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that 34 officers were killed then, including the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral Viktor Sokolov.

Subsequently, the Russian Ministry of Defense released on Tuesday, September 26, footage of a board meeting in which Black Sea Fleet commander Viktor Sokolov allegedly participated.
