US President Joe Biden sent a letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan, in which he assured the United States of continued support for his country. Armenpress reported this on Monday, September 25.
The letter from the American President was conveyed by the head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power.
“I have asked Samantha Power, a key member of my Cabinet, to personally convey to you the strong support of the United States and my Administration for Armenia’s aspirations to achieve a dignified and lasting peace in the region that protects your sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and democracy,” the letter said.
He stressed that the United States will continue to support Armenia in strengthening democracy within the country and working for stability in the region.
We remind you that the meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will take place next month.
As you know, on Tuesday, September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “local measures against terrorism” in Nagorno-Karabakh.
After that, the operation of the Azerbaijani army in the region began. However, Armenia did not send its army there. The Azerbaijani operation ended a day later.
Armenians criticized the authorities, including Nikol Pashinyan. In addition, protests began in the streets of the Armenian capital Yerevan.
